Grace Anne Valentine passed away on May 25, 2020 in West Palm Beach Florida after a brief illness. She was 76 years old. She was a devout Christian. Her faith carried her through many losses in her life. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by her family. Born in Catskill, NY August 15, 1943 to William C. and Grace A. (Koper) McEntee she attended Catskill High School where she graduated in 1962. On September 20, 1964 she married Albert E. Valentine at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Cairo, NY. Together they raised four children Kevin A., Keith W., Scott E., and Kathleen G.
She worked in her family boarding house The Wilmac, J.J. Newberry’s in Catskill, 21 years at Pleasant Acres Resort for the Sausto Family then after moving to Florida in 1991 she worked at Trim Co as office manager.
She was very active in her community. She served as the past president of the Catskill Lady Elks Auxiliary, past president of the Catskill Women’s Republican Club, past president and member of Citizen’s Hose Company #5 Auxiliary and now Catskill Ladies Fire Auxiliary life member. She is past president of the Young Womens Club of Leeds Reformed Church. She is currently a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Port St. Lucie.
Grace Anne’s favorite past time was being with her grandchildren, playing cards and reading. She was affectionately known as the neighborhood “Mom” by so very many. Even when she moved to Florida that tradition did not stop as she became known as “Mama Bear” to everyone who came to know her.
She is predeceased by her grandparents Gesina and John Koper and Charles and Margaret McEntee. Parents William C. and Grace A. (Koper) McEntee, husband Albert E. Valentine. She is also survived by her four children Kevin A. Valentine (Paige), Keith W. (Cyndee), Scott E. (Lisa) and Kathleen G .(Luke) Sparkman, her grandchildren Julia , Kevin James , Andrew , Erica, William Valentine , Kaden, Logan and Ava Sparkman. Also many cousins.
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 30 at 11am with a service at 1 pm at Haisley Funeral Home, 3015 Okeechobee Road, Fort Pierce. A memorial service will be held in Catskill, NY at a later date.
