Gurli Petersen passed peacefully on Sunday, July 7, 2019 in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
She was born in Copenhagen, Denmark on November 4, 1927. She met and married Bruno Petersen with whom she shared 59 years of marriage before his passing in 2005. Together they had three children. They immigrated to the United States in May of 1954 and made their home in Ft. Pierce. In retirement, they moved to Apopka, Florida and shared their time between there and the wonderful home they created in Murphy, North Carolina. After Bruno’s passing, Gurli moved to Altamonte Springs, Florida and lived there until her passing.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, a talented and creative homemaker and decorator who also cooked and baked everything with love, knitted and sewed for herself, her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Laila Quigley of Fort Pierce and Lillian (Don) Brown of Altamonte Springs; son, Kenneth Petersen of Fort Pierce; grandchildren, Shane (Kristin) Brown, Kevin (Beth) Brown, Christopher (Marilyn) Quigley and Tracy (Jeff) Stephens and great-grandchildren, Evan and Garrett Brown, Kiley and Alexis Brown, Bryan Quigley, Caleb, Alyssa and Alec Stephens and her sister, Hanne Gear of Dawsonville, GA. She will be dearly missed by all.
There will be no service. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity in her name.
