Gwenda Lee Stanley Thompson, 67, of Murphy, NC passed away Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014 at her residence.
She was a native of Vero Beach, Florida and moved to the Murphy area from Port St. Lucie, FL in
2012.
Gwenda was the daughter of Galen Lee and Gwendolyn Leurie Lantzy Stanley.
She had been a high school cheerleader and former member of the Order of the Rainbows No. 9 for Girls in Fort Pierce, FL.
Gwenda had been an administrator for a work force development board. She graduated summa cum laude in 1976 from the Florida Atlantic University. She enjoyed horses, quilting, and sewing.
She is survived by her husband, Scott Thompson; brother, Byron Lee Stanley; and sister, Gail Lynn Moore.
No funeral services are planned at this time.
