Hal Vanover, 80, died February 7, 2016 in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Mr. Vanover was born in Evanston, Illinois and moved to Fort Pierce in the 70’s coming from Chicago.
Hal was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, retired Past Commander of the AMVETS Post 15, and member of the American Legion. He was an accomplished golfer, played in the minor leagues in baseball, and bowled a 300. He was also the first grounds keeper of the St. Lucie Mets Stadium.
Survivors include his sons, Steven (Lynne) Vanover of Huntington Beach, CA and Kevin (Michelle) Vanover of Port St. Lucie, FL; daughter, Kerri (Steve) Boyd of Port St. Lucie, FL; brothers, John Vanover of Titusville, FL, Ed Vanover of Canada and Don “Freddy” Vanover of Minneapolis, MN; sisters, Scotty Burke of Evanston, IL and Sharon Greig of Idaho; 9 grandchildren, Sean Vanover, Nicole Vanover, Taryn Elizabeth, Christian Vanover, Cara Mia Vanover, Taylor Vanover, Evan Vanover, Austin Boyd and Hunter Boyd; and 5 great-grandchildren, Ana, Lilli, MacKenzie, Dexter and Lorelei. He was preceded in death by his son, Patrick Vanover and brother, Norm Vanover.

Services: Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 from 7-9 PM at Haisley Funeral Home, Fort Pierce. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 10:30 AM at St. Anastasia Catholic Church. A private burial will be held at South Florida National Cemetery.
