Hampie Burby, 90, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida and Bangor, Maine passed away on June 6, 2018 after a brief illness.
He was born on October 4, 1927 in Ashland, Maine. He was the son of Perley Burby and Kathryn Burby.
He was a building contractor most of his life. For the past 35 years, he worked for Ocean Properties. He was an avid Hunter and enjoyed his time in the woods. His most recent pastime was planting and watching over his fruit trees and vegetables.
He is survived by his wife, Charlene Burby; three children, Gregory Burby of Bangor, Maine; Susan Burby Ampuja of Phillipston, Massachusetts and Jane Burby Malone of Bangor, Maine; stepchildren, Carla Zvosechz and Charles Williams of Pinellas Park, Florida, Cheryl Matson of Port Saint Lucie, Florida and Cynthia Oaks of Berea, Kentucky; grandchildren, Michael Ampuja of Rhode Island, Sarah Ampuja of Massachusetts, Hannah Burby of Maine, Maddie Kurikka and Paige Kurikka of Texas and Evan Malone of Maine; step-grandchildren, Angela Jacobs, Danielle Boven, Jessica Webb, Kimberly Zvosechz, Carlene Arnold, Tyler Zvosechz, Chelsea Staut, Zach Matson, Brooke Akers, Amanda Caudill, Courtney Adams, Travos and Timmy Oaks; and his cats Bailey and Boo-Boo. He is predeceased in death by his parents, Kathryn and Perley Burby; his brother, Ernie Burby and his sister, Elder Beaulieu, all from Maine.
A private family ceremony will be held in Maine at a later date.
