 Harold Isidor Holtsberg, 97, passed away on March 1, 2024.   He is survived by his wife of almost 62 years Mae Holtsberg, sons Martin Holtsberg (Lore) & Frederick Holtsberg (Jeanine) & daughter Tiffini Gothard (James).  He had 8 grandchildren - Chris, Lindsay, Joshua, Victoria, Courtlyn, Sarah, Gabriela, & James III & 11 great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by nephews Marshall Johnston (Kathy), Kevin Johnston (Judy), & Ray Johnston and sister-in-law, Mary Kinyon of La Jolla, CA.

The son of former Mayor Fred Holtsberg, they were the first Jewish family in Ft Pierce, settling in 1912 when his grandfather Isidor stopped in Ft Pierce & decided it was a great place to open a department store on 2nd Street.  Harold lived a long and fulfilling life as a son, husband, father, and D-Dad.  As a University of Florida graduate in Agriculture in 1949 he had a long career with the Agriculture Research Center, Florida Citrus Mutual, & Becker Holding Corporation.  He served in the Army during World War II from 1946-1947.  He was very active as a leader in the community serving as President of Beth El Temple, President of the Jaycees, member of the Shriners, on the board of the St Lucie Historical Society, and was a 73-year Master Mason of Fort Pierce Masonic Lodge No 87.  

 His life was full of many adventures & his stories that he passed along are cherished by his children.  There is no greater man that you will ever meet, & he leaves a rich legacy in the life of his family & friends, who will deeply miss him.    Private services are being held at Beth El Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The St Lucie Historical Society Inc.
