Harold M. (Chuck) Kline, 83, died September 20, 2005 in Ft. Pierce, Florida.Mr. Kline was born on April 8, 1922 in Polo, Ogle County, Illinois. He moved from Polo to Florida in 1951. He served as advertising manager for Plant City Courier, a weekly newspaper for 12 years, joined International Minerals and Chemical Corporation in Bartow in 1963 as publications supervisor, employed by Plant City Shopper as advertising manager from 1967-1972, then moved to Fort Pierce as manager of St. Lucie Shopping Guide in 1972. He retired in 1988 after two-year stint managing Okeechobee Shopping Guide.Harold served in the U.S. Air Force as B-24 pilot in CBI Theater, stationed 13 months mostly in China with 10th Air Force. He was awarded Silver Star, 2 Distinguished Flying Crosses and 3 Air Medals.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Vernette of Ft. Pierce, FL; children, Michael (Alex) Kline of Sharon, CT, Patricia (Bob) Shaw of Ft. Pierce, FL and Jon (Jean) Kline of Vero Beach, FL; sisters, Virginia Curtis of Valparaiso, IN and Donna Berry of Sterling, IL; brother, William Kline of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Brooks Kline of Boulder, CO, Darby (Bob) Browning of Ft. Pierce, FL and Stephen and Alex Kline of Vero Beach, FL; great-grandchildren, Caitlyn and Savannah, twin daughters of Darby and Bob Browning.He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. John Kline; four siblings, Lucille Kline, John Leavitt Kline, Helen Mae Sumner and Bob Kline.Memorial contributions may be made to the Hibiscus Children’s Center, 2400 NE Dixie Highway, Jensen Beach, FL 34957.
