Harold M. Owen

Harold M. Owen, 78, died November 28, 2007 in Greenville, SC.Colonel Owen was born in Rochester, New York and moved to Ft. Pierce, Florida and currently resided in Waynesville, North Carolina.He joined the USAF during the Korean conflict where he received many awards and decorations including the Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Air Force Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster and the Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Award. He was a member of the Southside Christian Church in Fort Pierce.He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Joy Owen of Waynesville, NC; son, Harold C. Owen and daughter-in-law, Bonnie of Augusta, GA; daughter, Susan J. Altermatt and husband, Michael of Maggie Valley, NC; 4 grandchildren, Christopher Altermatt and his wife Brittany of Bel Air, MD, Katherine Altermatt of Jensen Beach, FL; Ian Owen and Jillian Owen of Augusta, GA; ; 1 great-grandson, Owen Altermatt of Bel Air, MD and loving canine companion, Mel.Memorial contributions may be made to Southside Christian Church, 3822 Edwards Road, Ft. Pierce, FL 34981.Services: A memorial service will be held on January 20, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Southside Christian Church, Ft. Pierce. An inurnment will be held on Friday, February 1, 2008 at The Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA with full military honors.
