Harriet Joy Sickler, 81, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida passed away on February 3, 2018 at her home.
Mrs. Sickler was born in Washington, DC on November 9, 1936 to Mr. and Mrs. William Jones.
Harriet moved to Port Saint Lucie, Florida in 1988 coming from Fort Washington, Maryland.
Her life was full of simple pleasures such as; spending time with family, gardening with the love of her life, relaxing by the pool admiring the view of her orchids and enjoying a good book. She could often be found in the kitchen humming a tune and even versions she made up. She always enjoyed going out for a meal that she didn’t have to cook. Watching the Wheel of Fortune followed by Jeopardy was a daily staple. Harriet loved listening to jazz on Saturday nights with her husband, remembering great times out dancing with friends.
She was active at Saint Elizabeth Seton Catholic church where she sang in the church choir and served on the Council of Catholic Women. She was regularly finding typos in the newspaper and well everywhere. She enjoyed her crossword puzzles in the morning with her French vanilla coffee and, last but not least, ending the day with something sweet, like ice cream.
The love she had for her kids was unspeakable which was passed on when she became a grandma and great-grandma. She taught us all how to bake, most importantly Christmas cookies, always adding a surprise ingredient with extra love, something we will forever cherish.
The place she called home since 1988 was full of family memories that were something she couldn’t leave behind. Her final wish was to be at home and we are happy that was possible with the support of Treasure Coast Hospice.
She was the epitome of easygoing, always thinking of others first. Never causing you to feel she was doing anything out of obligation. Her spirit and energy surrounds us still because it lives on, in all of us whose lives were blessed by her beautiful nature.
