Helen Virginia Keller

Helen B. Keller, 95, died September 14, 2009 in Ft. Pierce, Florida.

Mrs. Keller was born in LaGrange, Georgia and moved to Ft. Pierce in 1960 coming from Montgomery, Alabama.

She was a Professor Emeritus, IRCC where she served as Chairman of the Language Arts Division for 24 years. During the war years, she was the Director of Public Welfare for Talbot County, Georgia. She was also a Star Teacher at Columbus High School in Columbus, Georgia, member of the National League of American Pen Women, member of the Honorary Teachers Society by invitation, member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club of Ft. Pierce, Grand Marshall of IRCC Graduation for 2 successive years, President twice of the Florida Counsel of English Teachers of Zonta International in Montgomery, Alabama, gifted Educational Commercial Artist and exhibited at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama, member of the Knights Templar Educational Foundation, GT 70 Invitational Workshop at Glenwood Springs, Colorado, produced the 25th Anniversary Yearbook for the Knights of Columbus, Fort Pierce, and was a member of the First Methodist Church of Ft. Pierce.

Survivors include her daughter, Anne Keller Brideau of Ft. Pierce, FL; grandson, Michael Paul Brideau of Pueblo, CO. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Gene Keller.

Services: A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 18, 2009 at 10:00 AM at Haisley Funeral Home.
