Henrietta (Henri) Searcy Shi Hamilton

October 15, 1944 — December 21, 2015

Henrietta (Henri) Searcy Shi Hamilton passed away in the comfort of her home, surrounded by loved ones on December 21, 2015 after a strong and courageous battle with cancer.

Henri was born on October 15, 1944 in Macon, Georgia. She grew up in Gastonia, North Carolina where she met and fell in love with her beloved husband, Mac. Henri attended Pfeiffer College, and then Kings College before graduating with a degree in Business Administration. Henri and Mac married in 1964 and started their wonderful journey as husband and wife.

As a young woman, Henri enjoyed working as a secretary prior to returning home to lovingly raise her 4 children. Over the years she took pleasure in volunteering in several capacities within her Methodist church, her children’s schools, and community. In 1980, Henri returned to full-time employment outside of the home as a secretary for the Florence County School Board. When Mac’s Chamber of Commerce position moved the family from Florence, South Carolina to Ft. Pierce in 1984, Henri soon began a rewarding 29 year career at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center as a secretary, then as the Director of Volunteers and Senior Friend’s Program currently known as h2u. Henri delighted in her career at Lawnwood, but most especially, she appreciated the friendships she created over the years.

Henri is survived by her four children: Kimberly Hamilton Smith (David) of Fort Pierce, Florida; Henrietta Hamilton Renninger (Chris) of Naples, Florida; Murray McKinnon Hamilton, Jr. (Sonia) of Orlando, Florida; Mary-Julia Hamilton Camplin (Dustin) of West Palm Beach, Florida. Additional survivors include her ten grandchildren: Thomas, Andrew, and Anna Smith; Jonathan and Jacob Renninger; Megan, Samuel, and Mason Hamilton; and Kayla and Emily Camplin. Henri is also survived by her dear sister-in-law, Mrs. Patsy Shi. Her nieces and nephews held a special place in her heart as well.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Stand Up to Cancer at http://www.standup2cancer.org/ or to the Florida United Methodist Children's Home, 51 Main Street, Deltona, Florida, 32725.
