Henry L Duncan

Mr. Henry Louis Duncan,94, of Port St. Lucie, Florida died January 26, 2015, with his family by his side.
Henry was born to the late John and Lula Mae Duncan, on April 24, 1920 in Detroit, Michigan.

Henry (Hank) was a River Rouge native and attended the River Rouge Public Schools. After working for two years in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Natural Resource Conservation, he returned to school and graduated in 1940 from River Rouge High School. He served as a Master Sergeant in the United States Army, based in the Philippines. In 1942, he married his high school sweetheart Carrie Mae (Reid) and together they raised three children. For many years, he financially supported his family as Superintendent of the River Rouge Housing Commission.
Being an active member in the community, he served on many committees and Boards; the River Rouge Housing Commission and River Rouge Municipal Credit Union to name a few. He was a member of the Binford Lodge Local 26 Masonic Lodge, a longtime member of Union Second Baptist Church and a Founding member of the River Rouge Men's Club.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Mae; parents John and Lula Mae Duncan; and his brothers Lorenzo and William M. Duncan. He is survived by his daughters, Paulette L. Stallworth(Anthony) of Port St. Lucie, FL and Valarie L. Gregory of Nashville, TN; son, Dr. Philip J. Duncan of Stone Mountain, GA; sister, Annie Mae Terry of Southfield, MI; sisters in law, Winifred Duncan of River Rouge, MI, Evelyn McCullough of Southfield, MI, Rhoda Reid and Betty Gholston (Dean) both of River Rouge, MI; five grandchildren, Brandon Duncan Stallworth of Malvern, PA, Brent Davie Stallworth (Jeckell)of Tamarac, FL, Blair Dara Ezbicki(Peter) of Port St. Lucie, FL, Jada M. Gregory of Nashville, TN and Blake D'John Stallworth(Carol) of Tallahassee, FL; four great grandchildren, Elise N. and Eden E. Ezbicki, Micah Anthony Stallworth and Eric J. Gilmore; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A visitation will be held Friday, February 6, 2015 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Haisley Funeral Tribute Center, 2041 SW Bayshore Blvd 34984 (772-879-1000). His funeral will be held Saturday, February 7th, 2015 at 2 pm also at Haisley Funeral Home Tribute Center.
On Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 11 AM, a Celebration of Life Luncheon for Henry L. Duncan will be held at the Holiday Inn Southgate Banquet and Conference Center located at 17201 Northline Road, Southgate, Michigan 48195. Family and friends will be invited to join in.
