Herbert Keith Mcnees

August 16, 1917 — November 27, 2007

Herb, or PawPaw, as he was affectionately called, had a rich and full life, due to his love of life, his family and his friends. He loved people and enjoyed helping anyone who needed a hand. He was very active, playing golf every chance he got and even winning trophies this year. He worked at his vacuum cleaner sales and repair business every day he wasn’t vacationing or taking a holiday. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a big belly laugh that made others want to laugh with him. Herb was a very generous and giving man. He attended the First Assembly of God Church in Fort Pierce, Florida. We miss you Dad and lovingly think of you often, rejoicing in knowing that one day we will be with you again in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ.Herb was born in Utica, Ohio in 1917 and started working at age 12 and has been working ever since. His mother passed away when he was a young boy and he moved to Alexandria, Indiana in 1927 with his Dad and brother and 3 sisters.Herb is survived by a large loving family; his sister Lois Anderson in Brownsburg, Indiana; his wife Frances in Fort Pierce, Florida; and all the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren living in Florida, Kentucky and North Carolina. He was a business man and former electronics teacher in Ft. Pierce.Herb accomplished many things in his lifetime. He served in the U.S. Maritime Service during WWII. He started a business in Alexandria, Indiana, then he moved to Lake Worth, Florida in 1952 with his wife Frances and their 4 children. In 1954 the family moved to Fort Pierce, Florida, where our youngest baby sister was born. He continued his education and graduated from Florida State University in 1965. Herb always enjoyed traveling and taking the family all over the continental United States and Canada nearly every summer, camping and visiting family, and sightseeing. He and Frances also traveled to Israel, Ireland, Egypt and Jordan. He loved flying air planes and was a commercial pilot for a while and flew with the Civil Air Patrol. He flew the family across country many times. We loved his sense of adventure and were glad he shared it with us. Bye, PawPaw and God speed. We love you and miss you. Signed, your loving family.Services: Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2007 from 11-1 PM with a service to follow at 1:00 PM at Haisley Funeral Home
