Herbert Frank Wighard

Herbert F. Wighard, 78, of Port St. Lucie, FL passed away April 12, 2023. Herbert also known as “Frank,” “Wigs” and “Herbie” was born August 2, 1944 in Elizabeth, NJ. 

He married his beautiful bride, Michele, on June 28, 1965 and they would remain married for almost 56 years when she passed before him. Together they raised a small family of 2 daughters and would foster 22 sons. After attending Lincoln Technical School, Herbert worked in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration for over 10 years. He was awarded the Rolex Award for his work with ThermoAcoustic Technology.

Herbert walked many paths and tried to enjoy the journey of life. He was a Reverend, Son, Husband, Dad, Granddad, Brother, Nephew, Uncle, Cousin, Godfather, Friend, an American National, an Inventor, a Scientist, a teacher, mentor, investor, and played a lot of positions in life that made him very proud. 

Herbert had many hobbies and interests including, Football, Billiards, Chess, Backgammon, Frisbee, Coin Collecting, Playing Cards, Reading and Learning. 

Herbert’s family including daughters, Shereen E. Wighard-Downey, and Julian M. Wighard and son-in-law, Richard Downey, all of White City, FL will miss him greatly. He has left a hole in the life of his granddaughter, Celina M. Downey; brother-in-law, EJ Graef, sisters-in-law, Marilyn Graef, VictoriaLee Stone, Ginette V. Graef and Virginia Wighard, all of New Jersey. He is also survived by 3 nephews, 13 grand-nephews and nieces, many cousins and 22 foster sons. He joins in passing, wife, Michele; parents, Herbert B. and Juliet M Wighard; brother, Richard J. Wighard Sr; mother-in-law, Ginette Graef and father-in-law, Edward Graef Sr. 

A Celebration of Herbert’s life will be held on Sunday, April 30th, 2023 from 2PM to 4PM with a prayer service to start at 3PM at the Haisley Tribute Center 2041 SW Bayshore Blvd Port St. Lucie, FL 34984
