Ivan Anthony Mascioli

I. A. “Mac” Mascioli passed away on December 8, 2008 in Ft. Pierce, Florida.

I.A. “Mac” Mascioli was the owner and Broker of Allen Real Estate and his name was synonymous with service and community spirit. He was well known and highly respected in the community. Mac believes that if you make your home in a community then it is important to give back to the community. He was formally employed by The Miami Herald and retired after 25 years.

The walls of “Mac’s” office at Allen Real Estate, Inc. are literally covered with plaques and awards. He has been recognized nationally and statewide here in Florida for his dedication, service and community spirit.

“Mac” was a long time resident moving to Miami in 1942. He was active in many community and charitable organizations and generously gave his time and support.

He attended The University of Florida and was a member of Sigma NU Fraternity. He and his wife Mary set up a scholarship for under privileged children at Florida Atlantic University.

He has served on the following Boards of Directors: St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce served 4 years, St. Lucie County United Way Chairman 2 years and served 7 years, State of Florida United Way Board of Directors 2 years, Florida Employment & Training Association Chairman 4 years and served 6 years, Treasure Coast Private Industry Council Chairman 2 years and served 10 years, Exchange Center for Abused Children, Association for Retarded Citizens, and The Main Street Committee. Mac has also served as Chairman or President of the following: The Fort Pierce Housing Authority Chairman 9 years and served 15 years, St. Lucie County Seaport Advisory Comm. Chairman 10 years, and Rotary Club of Port St. Lucie President 1 year and member 6 years, St. Lucie County Economic Development Corp. President 1 year and member 6 years, United Way of St. Lucie County Chairman 2 years member 7 years, Founder of the Young Floridians, Treasure Coast Education Summit Chairman 2 years, Sunrise Theater Renovation Board Board of Director 1 year, The Private Industry Council Chairman 2 years, Treasure Coast Work Force Development Board Chairman 2 years, Founder of The Boys and Girls Club of St. Lucie County and was President 2 years, Sertoma President 2 years and member 7 years, National Registry of Who’s Who, Metropolitan Registry of Who’s Who, and Heritage Registry of Who’s Who.

Mac was awarded the Presidential Award by the U.S. Department of Labor; this award is presented to outstanding private sector volunteers. He was presented the award by Elizabeth Dole, then Secretary of Labor and Senator Simon of Illinois. He was chosen as one of the five most influential Men in St. Lucie County. He was also awarded the Key to the City of Fort Pierce (the first resident to ever receive the key) for his work on the Committee to build the Safe Space Shelter for battered and abused women. The shelter is named I .A. Mac Mascioli Abuse Center.

He has received the Boys and Girls Club Silver Medallion Award, J.C. Penny Golden Rule Award. He was the first recipient of The State of Florida Real Estate Association 1997 Humanitarian Award. In 1989 he was given the Richard McLaughlin Award; for economic development by the state of Florida and Southeast Region.

His most recent awards were given in April 2008. The Boys and Girls Club of St. Lucie County named the new Gymnasium the Mac Mascioli Unit. President of the Florida Senate, Ken Pruitt, honored Mac with the highest recognition to a citizen with The Florida Senate Medallion of Excellence and Florida Senate President’s Proclamation.

No one was more involved in St. Lucie County than Mac. He believed that if you live and work in a community, that you have to give back to the community.

Mac is survived by his wife, Mary Mascioli and son, Keith A. Mascioli both of Ft. Pierce, FL.

Services: Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2008 from 4-6 M at Haisley Funeral Home. A service will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Indian River Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Park.
