James Edward Britcher, 91, died February 7, 2017 in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Mr. Britcher was born in Schenectady, New York and moved to Fort Pierce in 1947.
James was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving during WWII. He was Deputy Sheriff with the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Department for 3 years, then worked for the Fort Pierce Police Department for over 24 years, retiring as Captain Chief of the Detective Bureau then went on to be the Superintendent of the St. Lucie County Youth Hall. He was a 32 degree Mason at the Fort Pierce Lodge 87 F&AM, member of the Fort Pierce Shrine Club, American Legion Post 40, past member of the Fort Pierce Rotary Club and VFW of Fort Pierce. He was also an avid card player.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Betty Britcher of Fort Pierce, FL; son, Alan Devernoe of Bradenton, FL; brother, Edward (Sharon) Britcher of Fort Pierce, FL and three grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr.
