James D. Drake

July 24, 1925 — March 12, 2010

James D. Drake, age 84, died on March 12, 2010 in Fort Pierce, FL. He was born in Dozier, AL and moved here in 2008, after living 40 years in Panama City, FL.

He was a Senior Master Sergeant in the US Air Force, a career veteran who made three trips across the English Channel on D-Day during WWII, serving in Germany, France and England. He was a member of Orange Avenue Baptist Church.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Rev. David Hart of Fort Pierce, FL, Donna and Will Huss of Panama City, FL; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Vadie Faye Drake (1999).

Memorial contributions may be made to the Orange Avenue Baptist Church and School, 100 Cyclone Drive, Fort Pierce, FL 34945.

Friends may call on Monday, March 15th from 5 to 6 PM at Orange Avenue Baptist Church. The Funeral Service, with military honors, will follow at 6:00 PM, with Rev. David Hart and Rev. Alan T. Neiman co-officiating. There will be a reception after the Service in the Church Fellowship Hall. Those unable to attend may send their condolences to the family at www.haisleyfuneralhome.com . There will be additional Services in Panama City on Wednesday, March 17th at 2:00 PM at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Panama City, FL.
