James E. Johnston, 75, died March 10, 2012 in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Mr. Johnston was born in Brooklyn, New York and moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida 21 years ago.

James retired after 30 years of service from the New York City Parks Department . He was of the Catholic faith, Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp., and Scout Master for the Troop 93 Boy Scouts in Bay Shore, New York. He was a recipient of the Order of the Arrow, Below O Patch, and of the Wood Badge. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree Knight, Bay Shore Social Athletic Club and of the Marion County Marine Corp. Detachment.

Survivors include his wife, Clara J. Johnston of Port St. Lucie, FL; daughters, Madeline A. Hodgins of Cape Coral, FL, Jacquelin Carrabus of Ridge, NY and Tracy A. McDermott of Ridge, NY; 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jack and Charles Johnston.
