James G. Macrellis, 72, of Fort Pierce, Florida died February 27, 2011. Mr. Macrellis was born October 26, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Greek parents, George and Mary Macrellis. He is preceded in death by his father George P. Macrellis in 1982, mother Mary Macrellis in 2001 and older brother Harry Macrellis in 1986. He was a 58 year resident of Fort Pierce, moving here with his family from Detroit, Michigan.
He worked for the St. Lucie County Supervisor of Election office.
Upon graduating from Dan McCarty High in 1956 he joined the US Navy. Once discharged from active duty he went to both the University of Miami and University of South West Louisiana getting his B.S. in Industrial Engineering in 1963. His active computer career spanned 36 years working with private industry, city, county and state governments. Throughout his life he was an active participant of his Greek Orthodox Christian religion. He was an active member of the Ft. Pierce St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church having served two terms on the church’s board. His keeping a strong faith in God promoted a positive attitude that all things were possible with God’s help. His deep love for his Greek Heritage, culture and music was always kept close to his heart.
Survivors include his daughter, Georgia J. Lansing & husband Jeff of Delta Junction, Alaska, son, James Macrellis, Jr. & wife, Renee of Chattanooga, TN; uncle, Peter Camacho; nieces, Maria Googe and Harriet Macrellis, grandsons, Peter Macrellis and Anthony Lansing; sister-in-law, Juanita Macrellis; and great niece, Ayrianna Macrellis all of Ft. Pierce, FL.
Respects may be paid at the Haisley Funeral Home on Friday, March 4, 2011 between 5:00 – 7:00 PM. A Trisagion service will be held at the funeral home at 6:00 PM. A service will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 9:30 AM at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. Burial will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
