James R. Humphreys passed away peacefully 6 August, 2020 in Port St Lucie, Florida.
James Humphreys was born 16 April 1934 in Washington, D.C. He moved to The Port St Lucie/Fort Pierce area in August 1979 after retiring from the U.S. Army as a Chief Warrant Officer 2. During his military career, he worked law enforcement and Criminal Investigations. He earned his criminology degree from Columbia University. He was a Vietnam Veteran which gave him an appreciation for life, liberty, and freedom.
As a newly transplanted Floridian, he worked as a security consultant for Wackenhut at FPL St. Lucie Nuclear Power Plant at on Hutchinson Island where he made many good friends.
In his retirement years, he enjoyed assisting veterans through various causes and the Meal on Wheels program. He also enjoyed immensely NASCAR and traveling. We believe he picked up the traveling bug through his Army stations throughout Europe and SE Asia.
Survivors include: His daughter Kathleen Kendler (James) of Tucson, AZ; sons, Phillip (Theresa) and Richard of Port St Lucie Florida, his grandsons, Sean & James Humphreys of Port St Lucie Florida, and his ex-wife Jeannine.
He was predeceased by his parents: James B. and Bernice F. Humphreys.
