James B. Maher (Jim), 84, passed away at his home in Port St. Lucie, FL on Sunday, February 27, 2022 with his family at his side.
Born in Trenton, NJ, he has been a resident of Port St. Lucie for the last 10 years. Jim was an enthusiast of all sports but he especially enjoyed baseball. As his children and grandchildren grew, he enjoyed watching them play baseball and soccer. He also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles every day.
Jim was a graduate of Trenton High School and Rider College. He worked for various divisions of McGraw-Hill Book Company (including the Gregg Division) for over 25 years.
Jim grew up attending Lutheran Church of the Redeemer and over the years filled many positions including serving on the Church Council, Treasurer and serving on the Board of Luther Towers, Luther Arms and a day care center all in Trenton.
Jim was the son of the late Elsie Sirianni (Joseph J. Sirianni) (J.J.) and the late James E. Maher. He was also the brother of the late John (Jack) Maher.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle, he will be missed by his wife, Mary Beth Maher of Port St. Lucie, FL and his three children, James Maher (Lynn) of Hamilton, NJ; Judi McGuigan (John) of Robbinsville, NJ; and David (Joanne) of Hamilton, NJ and his grandchildren, Matthew Maher, Christopher Maher, Shannon Maher and Laura Maher all of Hamilton, NJ and Casey McGuigan, John J. (J.J.) McGuigan and Tyler McGuigan, of Robbinsville, NJ along with several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to St. Andrew Memorial Fund, 295 N.W. Prima Vista Boulevard, Port St. Lucie, FL 34983 or Lutheran Church of the Redeemer Memorial Fund, 189 S. Broad Street, Trenton, NJ 08608.
In Port St. Lucie there will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday, March 20th, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 295 N.W. Prima Vista Boulevard, Port St. Lucie, FL 34983 which will be live streamed on

There will also be a Celebration of Life for Jim on March 23rd, 2022 at 12:00 PM at Poulson & VanHise Funeral Home, 650 Lawrenceville Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 088648. Relatives and friends can visit with the family on Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
