James Lloyd King, age 75, passed away peacefully in his home on July 22nd.
A lifelong resident of Fort Pierce, Jim was a friend to all who knew him. It could be said that Jim never met a stranger. His sense of humor and love of his family and friends was evident to all.
He graduated from Dan McCarty High School and Palm Beach Junior College. As a young man, he enjoyed being a member of the Fireballs, a local band. After starting his family, he worked as a dispatcher at 911 and rode with the Fort Pierce Police Auxiliary. But the biggest part of his working life was as CEO of Packers Supply Company.
After retirement, Jim enjoyed spending his summers with wife, Lois, camping in North Carolina. He was a volunteer with the Hospital Auxiliary at Lawnwood Medical Center during the rest of the year. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church and sang in the choir for many years. He also enjoyed computers, photography, and music.
But the most important in his life was his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jackson B. and Louise T. King. He is survived by Lois, his wife of 26 years; daughter Linda (Dwain) Hammock; daughter Suzanne (David) Murray; stepdaughter Tracy Hudson, and stepson Rob (Nathalie) Hudson; brother Joseph (Blair) King; and sister Janice (Frank) Lynch; 8 nieces and nephews, and 6 grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, July 26, from 5-7pm at Haisley Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 27th at 12:30 pm at Westside Baptist Church.
