Mr. Bendel was born in Westfield, New Jersey and moved Ft. Pierce in 1985 coming from Toms River, New Jersey.
James was a member of Westside Baptist Church, NASCAR fan, and for many years was an avid softball player.
Survivors include his son, James O. Bendel, Jr. of Alachua, FL; granddaughter, Cameron Bendel of Alachua, FL; step-grandchildren, Audrey and Cody England of Alachua, FL and Wayne Compton, Jr. of Alachua, FL; sister, Gloria Bendel of Toms River, NJ.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Westside Baptist Church, 3361 South Jenkins Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34981.
Services: A private service will be held by the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Haisley Funeral & Cremation Service.
