James Charles "Jim" Patrick

November 13, 1946 — May 19, 2024

Port St. Lucie

James Charles Patrick (Jim) always joked that it took until the age of twelve to realize his name wasn’t “Jesus Christ” - and on Sunday, May 19th, 2024, at the age of seventy-seven, he got to go be with Him. Jim passed away in his Port St. Lucie, FL home surrounded by loved ones. Even through his final days, he was a loving husband, dad, brother, grandpa, uncle, dog dad, and friend. Jim was born in Cleveland, OH to Benny and Isabell Patrick. After growing up in Wickliffe, OH, he moved to the south in the 70s, bouncing between Atlanta and the Florida beaches. The move was initially motivated by starting his business, Southern Sales & Engineering. Selling bearings and gears, Jim loved the diversity of applications he got to work in on a daily basis. But, more than the products he sold, he had a passion for building relationships and investing in the people around him. In the office, Jim will be best remembered for being fiercely loyal, a passionate friend, and incredibly hard working… as well as an occasional four-lettered word to show that passion. Jim enjoyed travel, and being a salesman made this an easy hobby. He could tell you how to get to a gas station in Troy, AL, or the best restaurants within 30 miles of Savannah, GA. Not only did he know his way around every city and town in the south, he also most likely had a friend there and a story to go with it. From the home of Elvis at Graceland in Memphis, to the dozens of Elvis’ in Las Vegas, he made sure to enjoy the sites wherever he visited. Often taking family along, one of his common stops was Biloxi, MS, so he and his wife, Karen, could hit the blackjack tables and slot machines. Some of his favorite memories were taking family and friends to The Masters, an annual shopping excursion with his daughter, Marilyn, and relaxing to the sights and sounds of the ocean. But, since 1974, the work week has ended at noon on Friday… and Jim was probably on the golf course. Not only did he enjoy playing golf at a high level, but he also loved sharing the game. From local municipal courses to the incredible Pine Valley, Jim was able to play all across America, usually with family and friends. After forty years of playing, he proudly carded a hole-in-one at on the 3rd hole of Torrey Pines North Course in San Diego, CA - his son, CJ, was an excited witness. Lastly, and most importantly, Jim loved to share his faith and hope in Jesus with all who would listen. Isaiah 41:10 - Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
