James M. Rich, 70, of Hutchinson Island, Florida and Ellicottville, New York died February 2, 2013 at St. Lucie Hospice House in Ft. Pierce, Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary. He also leaves behind four nephews, one niece, several cousins, neighbors and friends. His parents, Anthony & Mary Rich and brother, Anthony F. Rich, predeceased him.
Jim was a Veteran of the Vietnam War and served in Thailand. He graduated from the NYS Ranger School and Syracuse University. For 37 years, he worked at the NYS office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation, culminating his career as the Director of the Allegany Region.
After his retirement in 1998, Jim was on the Seascape II Board, where he served as President for 8 years and the Ocean Village Architectural Board of Review. He was a member of the Selective Service Board, American Legion, Elks, and Elkdale Country Club. Jim loved to fish and golf.

A memorial will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 10:30 in the Ocean Village Clubhouse. A Funeral Mass will be held on a later date at the St. John’s Roman Catholic Church in Olean, New York. Burial will follow in St. Bonaventure Catholic Cemetery in Allegany, New York.
