James Tiernan

James “Jim” Tiernan, 90, died December 20, 2023 in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Mr. Tiernan was born on September 24, 1933 in Garwood, New Jersey and lived in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Jim graduated from Rahway New Jersey High School in 1951 and then  went on to serve in the U.S. Army from 1954-1955.  He retired from the U.S.P.S. after 37 years of dedicated service.  Jim was a lifetime member of the American Legion, L.O.O.M., Elks Lodge B.P.O.E., various Pilot clubs and St. Anastasia Catholic Church.  He was a personal pilot for 40 years and truly enjoyed flying, was a huge Giants fan, enjoyed golfing, fishing, dancing, and was a huge animal lover.  He had a great sense of humor and you could catch him often performing the song “Alice” at any party.

Survivors include his spouse, Patricia Tefft of Florida; grandchildren, Sandy Tiernan, Brianna Tiernan both of New Jersey, Stephen Tiernan of Florida, Eric Tiernan of Washington, and Megan Whipple of Pennsylvania; and niece, Kathy Tiernan of New Jersey. He was preceded in death by his sons, James and John Tiernan.

Memorial contributions can be made to any Catholic charities. 

Services:  A memorial mass will held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Anastasia Catholic Church.
