JANET BEST VINCENT WAS BORN IN BERWIN ILLINOIS ON AUGUST 25, 1947 TO RUSSELL AND JUNE BEST.
JAN, AS SHE LIKED TO BE CALLED, ATTENDED SCHOOLS IN BERWIN AND CLARENDON HILLS ILLINOIS AND ALSO ATTENDED EASTERN ILLINOIS GRADUATING WITH A BACHELORS DEGREE IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION. HER FIRST JOB WAS IN THE CATSKILL NY SCHOOL SYSTEM TEACHING MIIDDLE SCHOOL PHYSICAL EDUCATION DURING HER 25 YEAR TEACHING TENURE. SHE ATTAINED HER MASTERS DEGREE. DURING HER TENURE SHE WAS THE UNION REP FOR HER FELLOW TEACHERS AND EVENTUALLY TOOK A POSITION WITH THE NEW YORK STATE UNITED TEACHERS UNION AS A LABOR RELATIONS SPECIALIST UNTIL RETIREMENT.
JAN MARRIED RONALD VINCENT, A REAL ESTATE BROKER IN CATSKILL NY, IN 1974 AND RESIDED IN CATSKILL UNTIL RELOCATING TO FLORIDA.
RON GOT HER INTERESTED IN GOLF WHERE SHE EXCELLED AND WAS THE CATSKILL GOLF CLUB WOMEN'S CHAMPION FOR 26 CONSECUTIVE YEARS. IN ADDITION, SHE PLAYED AND WON MANY AWARDS IN THE CAPITOL DISTRICT AREA. BOTH JAN AND RON WERE MEMBERS OF MEADOWOOD GOLF AND TENNIS CLUB IN FORT PIERCE FLORIDA WHERE SHE HELD THE TITLE OF WOMENS CLUB CHAMPION FOR 20 YEARS AS WELL AS SERVING ON THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS.
JAN IS SURVIVED BY HER HUSBAND OF 47 YEARS, RON, A BROTHER, JACK AND WIFE KATEY OF PORT CHARLOTTE, FLA., AND SEVERAL NIECES AND NEPHEWS IN ILLINOIS.
