John-David “JD” Smith, a St. Lucie County Firefighter and lifelong resident of Fort Pierce, Florida, died unexpectedly on October 28, 2023 at the age of 33. JD was known for his quirky sense of humor and enormous laugh. He had a huge heart and deeply loved his whole family!

He leaves behind his 2-year-old son, Liam Andrew Smith and Liam’s mother, Gabriella Nunes. He is also survived by his father, Paul (Brenda) Smith, his mother Pam (Fred) Wilson, brother Sam Smith, sister Jessica Reffner, sister Jaymie (Matt) Aubert, sister Mari (Kenny) Treverton, brother Craig (Lauren) Stokes, and brother Shayne (Samantha) Stokes, his uncle David (Annie Hunsucker)) Smith, aunt Debra (Dave) Thompson, aunt Martha (Roger) Gates, aunt Mary (Tommy) Logsdon and several cousins. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

JD was a devoted father and loved to share stories and pictures of his beloved son Liam. He enjoyed gaming, competition shooting, fine cigars, and dancing. He also enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends. His bigger than life smile, infectious laugh, and loving heart will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

A service and celebration of life is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 4 at Westside Baptist Church located at 3361 S. Jenkins Road. St. Lucie County Fire District Chaplain Tommy Neiman and Bishop JT Baumgardner will be officiating.
