Jeanne Shim Scott, 87, died peacefully Monday, February 25, 2019. She was born November 1, 1931 in Seoul, Korea. Jeanne worked at the U.S. Army Communications Center during the Korean War where she met her first husband Henry Virgil Alvey. She was widowed in 1965 and moved to Fort Pierce with her five children.
Jeanne was married to Marion J. Scott for 17 years until his passing in 1989. She was instrumental in the founding of the Fort Pierce Korean Baptist Church and was the eldest member of the congregation. Jeanne worked at Flowers Bakery for 24 years before retiring in 1992. She had a passion for traveling and loved to dance and garden.
Jeanne is preceded in death by both of her husbands, her mother Shi Kang Shim, her father Tuk Song Shim, brother Yoon Jin Shim and sister Shim Ok Hee. She is survived by her sister Oh Bun Shim; children Joyce (Ed) Widmayer, William Alvey, Kathleen (TJ Whiting) Slay, Danielle (Dustin) Beckford, and Jeanne Gray; step children Donna (LJ) Breaux, Karen (Mike) Revels, and Ronald Scott; grandchildren April Widmayer, Carrie (Mark) Connelly, Christopher Alvey, Joby (Lisa) Slay, Jacob Alvey, Shaunesi (David) Maxwell, Justin Price, Beau (Katie) Slay, Joseph Alvey, Michael-Brianne (Jason) Pressley, Jessey (Nate) Wissing, William Alvey II, Raymond (Winter) Ravencrest, Mike Revels, Shane (Christy) Revels, Aaron Breaux (Kacey), and Todd Breaux; 21 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2019 from 5-7 pm at Haisley Funeral Home, Fort Pierce. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019 from 9-10 am with a service to follow at 10:00 am at the Fort Pierce Korean Baptist Church. Burial with take place at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fort Pierce Korean Baptist Church.
