It is with deep sorrow and heartache that the family of Jenna Quist announce her passing on May 24th, 2023. The world has lost a beautiful soul.
In this life, we experience many emotions and joys, and one of the greatest joys of our family was the gift of Jenna Jean. She was a blessing we will always be thankful for.
Jenna was born in Beaverton, Oregon, to Joe Quist and Shannon Ford on September 27, 1994. She joined her sisters, Sara and Hannah Quist. Her brother, Zacharia Nebeker was born four years later. She had a special relationship with her stepsister and friend Larina Qutami.
When reflecting on the life of one so loved and enjoyed, how can such a beautiful, generous, kind soul be summarized in just a few short words? We all have such wonderful memories of her: her hilarious sense of humor, her quick wit, and how much she made us laugh…and laugh…and laugh until we peed our pants. She was a true entertainer-a natural comedian-from her word and her impeccable comedic timing to her infectious giggle.
We will remember many things about Jenna, and one of them was her infectious smile and “seriousness”:
* Her serious lack of coordination and balance. Everyone in the family knew her klutziness just added to her charm.
*Her serious love of music. She loved music and insisted on singing along whether she knew the words or not. If she didn’t know the words, she just supplied her own.
*Her ‘serious’ and prodigious amount of artistic talent. She earned her first ‘commission’ for her artwork when she was just 16. She learned the art of tattooing and was very good at drawing and design. Her tattoo art will last for many years because her family has several examples on them. She was a voracious collector of seashells and used them in a lot of her artistic endeavors.
Inevitably, Jenna had qualities and characteristics that are intrinsically bound up in our memories of her. She had the best smile - her face was graced with 3 deep dimples: one in each cheek and one in her “butt chin”. She enjoyed doling out good-natured harassment to each of her family members and friends and receiving it back in kind. The ability to add infinite fun and enjoyment wherever she went and regardless of who she was around, was a true gift. Though Jenna didn’t have a sense of smell, she was obsessed with smelling. Every day she would ask those around her, “Will you smell this?”, “Do I stink?”, or “What do my pits smell like?” Jenna was also known for her interesting, creative, uncoordinated dance moves. You couldn’t watch her dances without cracking up. Broadway would never be ready for her!
We remember our Jenna Jean’s many loves- the love she had for her family and friends, the love she had for animals-in particular, her faithful companion who counted more than almost any human, Rowdy a.k.a. Rocket Dog , and her chicken, Princess; her love of NF, the beach, hippy clothes, beads, arts, crafts, and drawing; various variety of food, especially Flaming Hot Cheetos and Reese’s Pieces Peanut Butter Cups; her love of saying the funniest things that pushed the limits of the “acceptable” while retaining the sound of properness, and enjoying the beach with Rich Henry, her boyfriend.
Jenna Jean was a free spirit who is now free of the boundaries of this world, but not free from the boundaries of our hearts. We will miss her for as long as we have breath within us….Love you, Jenner Jean.
