Mrs. Jessie L. Blair, 104, died August 26, 2007 at the Port St. Lucie Nursing and Restorative Care Center.Mrs. Blair was born July 3, 1903 in Yonkers, NY. She and her husband, the late Robert Blair, moved to Fort Pierce in 1955. She was a devoted and fun-loving “second mother”
to her nephew, Jack Porth. Mrs. Blair was an active member of the Fort Pierce Hospital Auxiliary for many years. Upon entering the nursing home in 1993, she continued her hobbies of playing cards, crocheting afghans and lap robes for other residents, and following, with great enthusiasm, “her” Atlanta Braves baseball team.Survivors include her nephew, John L. (Jack) Porth and his wife, Mahala, of Blowing Rock, NC; great-nephew, Richard D. Porth, his wife, Lisa, and their children, Lindsey, Lauren, and Lacey Porth of Ft. Pierce, FL; great-niece, Susan D. Rackley and her children, Olga and Galina Schreiber of San Antonio, TX; brother, Harry A. Lawrence, Jr. and wife, Mary Ann, of New Haven, VT; and Frances T. Sherwin of Port St. Lucie, FL. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Helen E. and John M. Porth.The family wishes to thank the staff of Port St. Lucie Nursing Home of the outstanding comfort and care they provided to Mrs. Blair and her family during her stay there, particularly at the end of her life.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 31, 2007 from 10:00-11:00 AM with a service to follow at 11:00 AM at Haisley Funeral Home on Okeechobee Road in Fort Pierce. Burial will be follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Ft.
