He was a retired Master Sergeant and retired after 20 years with the US Air Force. He was the owner/operator of Hartley Brothers RV & Supplies for ten years, served on the ARC Center as Fort Pierce Director of Environmental Services for 17 years, past Board Member of YMCA and an AM Vets Life Member, he was also a very active member of First United Methodist Church.He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Bobbie Wallace of Fort Pierce; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Chris Hartley of Port St. Lucie; three grandchildren: Joey Sweat, Alex and Chase Hartley and one great-grandson, Gabriel Sweat; brother, Philip Hartley of Blairsville, Georgia; brother, Richard Hartley of New Bern, North Carolina; sister, JoAnn Lassiter of New Bern, North Carolina and mother-in-law, Polly Arthur. He was predeceased by his wife, Carolyn Hartley.
