Joanne Elizabeth Santrock Tucker was born in Akron, Ohio on July 23, 1938. Joanne went to be with her heavenly father on Monday, October 3, 2022, in Fort Pierce, Florida where she, and the love of her life, Jay, raised their four children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay H Tucker, III of almost 64 years. She is survived by her four children, Tracy and wife Denise, of Jacksonville, Florida, Craig and wife Melody, of Jamesville, North Carolina, Penny Worley and husband Mark of Fort Pierce, Florida, and Jeslyn Snider and husband Jeff of Cleveland, Tennessee. Joanne is also survived by ten grandchildren: Bethany, Mandy, Kristy, Philip, Kent, Sarah, Brittany, Allison, Weston, Ani, and twenty great grandchildren.
After high school, Joanne worked as a switchboard operator for the phone company. Joanne married her high school sweetheart, Jay Tucker, in Sarasota, Florida in 1957. After having their first son, Tracy, they moved to Iowa. While living in Iowa, Craig, Penny and Jeslyn were born. In 1969 the family moved back to Florida, settling in Fort Pierce on the east coast, where they would live until Joanne and Jay became empty nesters, grandparents and even great grandparents. Joanne and Jay moved to Leesburg for a few years before permanently settling back in Fort Pierce.
Joanne was a stay-at-home mom until all her children were in school. Joanne and Jay purchased, and Joanne operated a wig salon for a few years. She then worked for a local insurance agent before making the decision to stay home and help take care of her grandkids.
Regardless of where they lived, Joanne served the Lord faithfully in the local church they attended, working in various areas of ministry including church secretary, board member, treasurer, or wherever she was needed.
Joanne’s memorial service will be held Sunday, November 6, 2022, at 5pm at GRACE Emmanuel Church, 707 Kitterman Road in Port Saint Lucie.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that any donations be made to the GRACE Emmanuel Church Building Fund or Treasure Coast Hospice.
