John Donald Austgen, Sr., 75, died July 30, 2019 in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Mr. Austgen was born in Hammond, Indiana and moved to Fort Pierce in 1952.
Prior to retirement, John worked at Sears. He graduated from the old St. Anastasia Catholic School, where he was class president, and then went on to graduate from Indian River Community College with his Associates degree. He played high school football and baseball and later in life his true passion was playing tennis at Lawnwood Tennis Center. John was a Veteran of the National Guard and member & head usher for many years at St. Mark’s Catholic Church. He also volunteered at Notre Dame Catholic Mission for many years to feed the needy.
Survivors include his daughter, Tracy Wilkes of Jupiter, FL; brothers, Nick Austgen of Stuart, FL and Pete Austgen of Fort Pierce, FL; sisters, Peggy Kendall of Fort Pierce, FL and Mary Roberts of Clewiston, FL; grandsons, John Austgen III and Talan Wilkes both of Jupiter, FL and granddaughter, Finley Wilkes of Jupiter, FL.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 2, 2019 at 10:00 AM at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Fort Pierce.
