John C. “Jack” Wiecks Sr., 71 died March 12, 2012, in West Palm Beach, Florida
Mr. Wiecks was born in Little Neck, New York, and moved to the Treasure Coast in 1983, coming from Southampton, New York. An entrepreneur, Mr. Wiecks retired from the music industry to open and run a successful grocery store/deli in Southampton, New York, and later a Hallmark Card and Gift store in Stuart, Florida. Mr. Wiecks later settled in Fort Pierce in 1990.
While in Southampton, New York, Mr. Wiecks belonged to both the Elks Lodge as well as the Southampton Yacht Club.
A polio survivor, Mr. Wiecks overcame many obstacles to live a successful and independent life. He refused to let his illness and disability stop him from living a full life. An avid boater, Mr. Wiecks was happiest when on or near the water.
He is survived by his brother Charlie Wiecks of Port St. Lucie; son, John Wiecks of Orlando, as well as son and daughter-in –law, Chris and Janine Wiecks of Fort Pierce; and grandson, Brendan Hampton Wiecks.
