John Joseph Daly, Jr., 94, a father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather died peacefully at his home in Port St. Lucie, Florida on March 27, 2015.
The son of an Irish Olympic Champion runner was born in New York City, John served proudly in the Army Air Corp during World War II, his plane was shot down, and he was taken prisoner of war and liberated after 14 months of confinement. Returning to the United States, John served nearly 36 years in continued service to this country. He served in the US Border Patrol and the US Customs and Immigration Service. John was an active member of the American Legion Post 0318 of Port St Lucie, Florida.
He is survived by seven children, two daughters, Maire and Deirdre, and five sons, John, Michael, Brian, Matthew, and Patrick, and their spouses with 14 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. And, his sister Anita Collins of Durham, NC
John was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Patricia Gilmartin, and second wife Patsy Crull and a sister Mary Dibiase.
