John Matthew Fimian, 71, of Port St. Lucie, Florida passed away peacefully at home on April 23, 2019.
John was born in Dublin, GA on 7/24/1947 and married his loving wife, Kathy Lee Fimian on 6/8/1984 In South Boston, VA.
John attended high school at Mount St. Benedict Monastery in Trinidad and subsequently completed Engineering School at Pratt Institute in New York City, NY. He thereafter became the owner of Southwestern Mechanical Inc. in South Boston, VA and Co-owner and VP of Nogle and Black Mechanical in Champaign, IL. He enjoyed his later career working as a highly-respected engineering consultant via Reliable Mechanical based in Savoy, IL and various Florida-based construction firms.
John was a member of St. Matthew’s Church, Knights of Columbus, and the Cascade Men’s Club. Before his illness, he loved to golf, play racquetball, play tennis and pickle ball, bowl, and read. He also had a passion for travel and took his family on many wonderful international adventures.
Survivors include: wife, Kathy Lee Fimian' daughter, Sarah (Jake) Fimian Fulk of Normal, IL; bonus daughter Melissa (Charles) Sullivan of Fredricksburg, VA and bonus son of Christopher (Melanie) Newton of King Georga, VA; 4 grandchildren: Francesca Fulk, Carleigh Newton, Lena Sullivan, and Kaitlyn Sullivan; sisters: Lisette Fimian of Las Vegas, NV, Renee (Michael) Ford of Prescott Valley, AZ, Patricia (James) Guthrie, of Mechanicsville, VA, Mary (Max) Katherine Frayser of Ashland, VA; nieces: Jennifer Lucas, Rebecca Manda, nephew Chris Mager; he is also survived by a number of great and grand nieces and nephews, along with many friends, all of which will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by parents Rudolph U. Fimian and Louise Wells Fimian.
Family will be gathering at 3 pm for a service that will begin at 4pm on Wednesday May 1, 2019 at Haisley Tribute Center, 2041 SW Bayshore Blvd, Port St. Lucie, FL 34986.
A second memorial service will be held at the Esquire lounge in Champaign, IL at a later date.
The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Treasure Coast or the Brain Support Network (a non-profit charity that helps families accomplish brain donation brainsuppotnetwork.org ).
