JOHN ADDISON FOLAND
John Addison Foland, 89, died January 16,2015 in Ft. Pierce, Florida.
Mr Foland was born in Noblesville, Indiana to the late R.C. Foland and M. Pearl Foland and resided in Port St. Lucie Florida at the time of his death.
Mr. Foland graduated from Noblesville High School and Emerson College with a B.A. in Speech/ English. He attended Butler University and did post graduate study at American University in Shrivenham, England. He was a WW11 veteran serving under General George Patton in the European Operations including the Battle of the Bulge and the Remagen Bridge Capture and the German Occupation. He was awarded with three bronze stars, the American Theatre Ribbon, EAME Theatre Ribbon,the Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal.
Mr. Foland began his career as a teacher at Charlotte High School in Rochester New York. He joined the television industry in 1948 as a writer, producer, director. He wrote and produced myriad programs for CBS and NBC television. At WFBM T.V. in Indianapolis he was responsible for writing and producing programs covering Indiana history, the Indianapolis 500 Parade, and other special events statewide. He was a professional actor and director in legitmate theatre from Philadelphia to Las Vegas. He wrote and produced Travelling Murder Mysteries that were presented in Canada, Mexico as well as the U.S. Mr. Foland was committed to community theatre and was an original founder of the Hamilton County Theatre Guild in Noblesville, Indiana.
He served seven(7) years on the Noblesville ,Indiana School Corporation Board of Education and was a member of the Indiana Press and the Noblesville Optimist Club.
Mr Foland is survived by three children; Kristen Sullivan, Michele Gaw and Jon Howe Foland, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty Gaddis Foland , wife and Lindsey Foland, daughter preceeded Mr. Foland in death.
