John G. “Jack” McCall, 91, died January 8, 2008 at the West Palm Beach Veteran Administration (V.A.) Medical Center.He was a proud Scotsman and Marine. He was born in Dalmuir, Scotland in 1916. He came to the United States when he was 12 years old. He moved from Chicago, IL in 1985 to reside in St. Lucie County for the remainder of his life. For the majority of his life he worked as a machinist and truck driver for Murphy Trucking.Jack was an honored WWII Veteran. He volunteered for his country to fight in the Pacific Theater in WWII during 1943-1945. He bravely fought in the battles of Okinawa, Peleliu, Palau, and West Carolinia. Jack always felt he owed this country a great debt and that’s why he volunteered to go to war. He was injured during the war and became a disabled veteran. Because of his bravery and courage he received 3 Purple Hearts, 1 Bronze medal, and many more awards for his dedication, honor, and bravery from the U.S. Government. After the war, Jack became a champion for the rights of all Veterans. He dedicated his life by fighting for better health care and better treatment, and respect for all veterans. He was a member of the Jack Ivy League and many more organizations.
He left behind his beloved wife, Ingrid M. McCall of Ft. Pierce, FL; stepdaughter, Michele and (Kenneth) Porter of Ft. Pierce, FL; stepson, Jeremie Witlin of Ft. Pierce, FL; son, John Jr. and (Kay) McCall, Jr. of Lake Geneva, WI; stepdaughters, Dorothy Witt of Rockford, IL, Audrey and (Eugene) Hinzman of Crossville, TN, Shirley Wallers and (Mark) of Schaumburg, IL, Donna and (Marvin) Viau of Katie, TX and Dawn and (Scott) Spencer of Verona, KY; sister-in-law, Dorothy McCall of Ft. Pierce, FL; nephew, Tom McCall of Ft. Pierce, FL; niece, Eileen Norton of Ft. Pierce, FL; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Daycare, 2900 South Jenkins Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34981.
Services: Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2008 from 1-2 PM with a service to follow at 2:00 PM at Haisley Funeral Home.
