John was born in New York City, NY and had been a resident of Fort Pierce since 1991, coming from Salisbury, CT.He was a meteorologist for the US Weather Bureau.He worked for Pan American World Airways as supervisor of Meterology aboard missile-tracking ocean range vessel, SWORDKNOT,and at downrange missile base-Ascension Island. He also worked at Swan Island (Honduras) weather station, worked with the US Coast Guard North Atlantic Weather Patrol for several years acting as supervisor aboard the SAMPAN HITCH and also aboard the Coast Guard Cutter, YAKUTAT, on ocean station "Bravo". In later years he was a science teacher at Crosby Junior High School, Pittsfield, Massachusetts.John's life long interests were military history, world history, sciences, art, music, literature and travel.He is survived by his sister, Joan M. Lahr of Lakewood Park, FL with whom he made his home, nephews and nieces of CT, Ma, CA and MS.
