Mr. John M. Porth, 96 died February 10, 2004 at Port St. Lucie Nursing and Restorative Care Center.Mr. Porth was born November 11, 1907 in Philadelphia, PA, and grew up in Yonkers, NY. He was a member of the Yonkers Fire Department until injury forced his retirement in 1952. He moved his family to Ft. Pierce, FL in 1953, and worked in the construction industry for many years. Prior to entering the Port St. Lucie Nursing Home in 1993, Mr. Porth and his wife were familiar faces at several area restaurants, and they were always greeted warmly by owners and staff when they returned.Survivors are his son, John L. Porth and his wife, Mahala of Blowing Rock, NC; grandson, Richard D. Porth, his wife, Lisa, and their children, Lindsey, Lauren, and Lacey Porth of Ft. Pierce, FL; granddaughter, Susan D. Rackley and her children, Olga and Galina Schreiber of San Antonio, TX; his sister, Edna Wassmer of Albany, NY; sister-in-law, Jessie E. Blair of Ft. Pierce, FL. He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Helen E. Porth, who died in March 2000, and by his daughter, Helen P.
