John Joshua Schneider was born in North Philadelphia on January 27, 1938 to Carmen (nee Manfredi) and William F. Schneider. He is missed and survived by wife of fifty-one years, Rita
(nee Hernandez), daughter Amy, and son John “Joshua”. Amy lives in Huntersville, NC with husband Paul Kritzer and their children, Isabella Mae and Sophia Grace. Joshua lives with partner Krista McArdle in Andes, NY.

He died at Hospice House on January 2, 2016 after a short illness. John was surrounded by love and support of Rita, their children and grandchildren, and ‘near-sister’ Patti Orr of High Point, and ‘friend/brother-in-law’ Stephen B. Hernandez and nephew Stephen C. of Massapequa Park, NY.
Surviving John are sister-in-law, Vivian Schneider of High Point; brother, William and wife Millie of Sellersville, PA, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, David (Donald), Joseph and Freddie. After their mother died, they were cared for in Christ’s Home, an orphanage in Warminster, Pennsylvania. John stayed at Christ’s Home until he was 16, when he moved in with Bill and Millie.

John enlisted in the US Air Force in 1955, working as an aircraft mechanic, and after discharge worked at Philadelphia Gas Works, and Pan American Airlines. He then spent his working life as a furniture mover and long-distance trucker.

In 2004, John and Rita moved from Delhi, NY to High Point in Fort Pierce. He will be missed by many wonderful new/old friends, neighbors in New York and Florida, and especially by Carolyn and Dave Mueller of Delhi.

A memorial celebration of John’s life will be held at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, January 27th in High Point Section III Clubhouse, 724 High Point Boulevard, Fort Pierce. A summer celebration will also be held in New York.
