Dr. John E. Welhaven, 92, died August 19, 2013 in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Dr. Welhaven was born in New York City, New York and moved to Ft. Pierce in 1952 coming from Asheville, North Carolina.
Dr. Welhaven graduated from the Cleveland School of Podiatry in 1949 and attended the University of Miami, School of Medicine. He started his practice in 1953 in Fort Pierce at the Arcade Building. He attended Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a Life Member of the Marine Corp. League, Jack Ivy Detachment in Fort Pierce, also Life Member of the Elks Club, and a member of the Lions Club. He served with the US Marine Corp during WWII.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Virginia L. Welhaven and son, Thor (Lourdes) Welhaven both of Ft. Pierce, Marc (Susan) Welhaven of Pensacola and Eric (Sheila) Welhaven of Lady Lake and granddaughter, Brandi.
Memorial contributions may be made to the World Wildlife Fund or the Parkinson Foundation.
