It is with a heavy heart we bid farewell to our brother John passed away ending his 4 year battle with cancer. Johnny refused to go gentle into that good night but instead waged a courageous battle to stay alive long enough to see his children grow into the responsible, kind and caring adults they have become. John’s greatest love in his life was the love he had for his children, John and Catherine Willis. It wasn’t the surgeries nor the chemo that kept Johnny going ... it was the love for his children that kept him going.
Johnny’s love of life, his love for animals, his love of nature and his wonderment in the beauty of all God's amazing creations ... has safely been passed on to his children. They too share the same passions their father did. If we do it right, we never really die because a little piece of us lives on in our children and their children and on and on. Johnny did it right. So, we'll take comfort in the knowledge that when we visit with Johnny’s wonderful kids in the coming years, it is through them that we'll still be seeing our nature boy brother Johnny continuing to relish the gift of life and appreciating the wondrous and amazing ... gift ... that life truly is. Johnny would say, “Don’t waste it, savor it, every last drop of it”. And he did.
John has now embarked on an entirely new journey and no doubt the angels are already having a hard time trying to keep up with him as he races to explore an entire universe of God's amazing, wondrous creations! Enjoy every last drop of it, brother!
John is survived by his son, John and daughter Catherine; sisters Ann Houk, Kathy Anderson, Mary Rose and Eileen Willis and brothers Jim, Michael and Edward Willis. He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas Willis and Catherine McKillen Willis and by his brothers Thomas Willis, William Willis, Daniel Willis, Joseph Willis.
