Johnnie David Kemp, Sr. “David”, age 85, passed away peacefully on May 6th, 2019 in Stuart, Florida surrounded by his family and loved ones.
David was born December 28th, 1933 in Sylvania, Georgia to Johnnie and Carlyn Kemp. He moved to Palm Beach County as a child, and was a graduate of Palm Beach High School. He then went on to serve in the United States Army, where he was stationed in North Korea. After his military service, he returned to Florida and married the love of his life, Eva Rogers Kemp. He worked as a Supervisor for Florida Power and Light. Upon retirement, David and Eva decided to fulfill their dream of living in the Blue Ridge Mountains. They moved to Blairsville, Georgia, where he was an active church member and media booth assistant of First Baptist Church. When not helping with church functions, he could often be found gardening or working in his wood shop. David enjoyed building furniture, golfing, and farming. If the community had something that needed to be built or fixed, David was the first to volunteer for the job. Most of all, David loved spending time with his family.
David is survived by his wife Eva Kemp, their two children Johnnie David Kemp, Jr. and Robyn Kemp Cook, as well as the following grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Cherysh Kemp Gunkle, Fallon Kemp, Ilee Fagarass, Carlyn Fagarass, John Fagarass, David Fagarass, Kaili Foster, and Kinley Foster.
The family will be honoring David with a private Celebration of Life. They are grateful for the support they have received from friends and family. Flowers, cards, and condolences can be sent to Eva Kemp at 11 NE N Warner Drive, Jensen Beach, Florida 34957.
