Joseph A. Roberts, 79, died May 14, 2009 in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
He was born in Sylvania, Georgia and moved to Port St. Lucie 18years ago coming from Newark, New Jersey.
Mr. Roberts was a member of the Operating Engineering Local 825. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Annie Roberts, of Port St. Lucie, FL; sons, Elby Roberts, of Newark, NJ, Ellis Roberts, of Stuart, FL, Ivy Roberts and Elijah Roberts, both of Port St. Lucie, FL; daughters, Barbara Washington, of Miami, FL and Denyse Roberts, of Hampton, VA; brother, Rayford Scott, of Irvington, NJ; sisters, Betty Ivey, of AL; Evelyn Kelly, of Hollywood, FL, Elizabeth Scott and Alma Norman, both of Irvington, NJ; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; special friend, Shane Stenson; and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Roberts; grandson, Tracey Roberts; brothers, Damon, Henry, and James Roberts; and sister, Lena Walker.
Services: A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 from 12-2:00 PM at Haisley Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 2 PM.
