Joseph Deross, Sr.

Joseph DeRoss, Sr., 84, of Sunrise, Florida passed away peacefully on April 10, 2007 surrounded by loved ones. Joseph John DeRoss, Sr. was born on April 28, 1922 and was raised in Brooklyn, NY.He served in the US Army in WWII, married his childhood sweetheart (Grace) and relocated to Miami, FL. He was a fabulous bartender, spent many years as a para-mutual clerk at Hialeah, Calder and Gulfstream race tracks. Over the last several years Joe and Grace lived happily in Sunrise Lakes Phase III. He enjoyed swimming at the pool, reading, spending time with his family and watching his favorite sports. Four months ago he was drafted by cancer and was a team player through the season, but didn’t make it to the playoffs.Joe is survived by his loving wife, Grace, his son, Joseph DeRoss, Jr. (Diane) of Fort Pierce and daughter, Patricia Scottaline of Vero Beach, grandchildren, Kristi & Kelley Scottaline, Matthew & Blake DeRoss, the Miami Heat, the Miami Dolphins and the Florida Marlins. He will be missed by all.
