Joseph Gopaul Kanhai was born in Queens, New York on December 7, 1986. On the evening of October 29th 2016, he was killed in a motorcycle accident.
He was son of Roshini Lakram and Mitch Kanhai. He is survived by his (sisters) Joy-Cheri and Angelina, (brother) Justin, as well as his grandparents (maternal) Kamlawaty Lakram and Lakram Baijnauth, (paternal) Lilawattee Kanhoye and Joseph Kanhoye. His first Love Christina Ramsewack. He was a big brother to DaeQuan Ambrister and Naresh Bissoon.
He attended Elmont High school, Fort Pierce Beauty Academy and Indian River State College. A jack of all trades, he mastered everything from barbering to accounting, entrepreneurship, Administrator/Owner of an Assisted Living Facility and DJ’ing. He was very involved with his community and church. He was a loving son, brother, friend, and confidant. He dedicated his life to the mentally disabled and encouraged everyone to become bigger and better. When he walked in a room, the entire room would light up and would be full of his buoyant energy, jovial personality and enthusiasm. He took many under his wings and found comfort in guiding them. The world will be a different place without him. He will be remembered forever. Special thanks to all the family and friends who have been here for us day in and day out, the personal visits, prayers, flowers, cards, and Facebook condolences.
