Joseph Edward “Ed” Varnes, 68, died April 15, 2012 in Ft. Pierce, Florida.
Mr. Varnes was born in Columbia, South Carolina and was a resident of Ft. Pierce.
Ed retired from Pepsi Cola as a truck driver after 20 years and he also worked for Hockaday Trucking. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, stationed in Tokyo. He graduated from Dan McCarty High School, Class of 1962 and was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of Gator Trace Golf Club, Elks BPOE #1520 in Ft. Pierce and the Moose Lodge, Ft. Pierce.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Hockaday Varnes of Ft. Pierce, FL; daughter, Candace Varnes White of Ft. Pierce, FL; son, Bryan Edward Varnes of Ft. Pierce, FL; sister, Phyllis Steele of Stoneville, NC; brother, James Varnes of Asheville, NC; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Shaw.

Services: Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 from 2-3 PM with a service to follow at 3:00 PM at Haisley Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Haisley Funeral & Cremation Service.
