Josephine Margaret "Maggie" Weeks

Josephine Margaret Simmons Weeks “Maggie” preceded in death by her loving husband Edward Weeks and daughter Sandra Storey Overstreet slipped peacefully into Gods arms July 6th, 2015 surrounded by her family. Survived by her children Shirley Storey Harvey (Harold) Okeechobee Fl., Steve Storey (Trish) Fort Pierce Fl., Sue McLellan Hazlehurst Ga., Ten grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren and 35 great great grandchildren. Services will be held July 10th at Haisley-Hobbs in Fort Pierce with public visitation at 10am funeral services to follow at 11am and interment at White City Cemetery.

Born in Auburndale Florida March 8th, 1929 Maggie’s family soon moved to Fort Pierce in the 1930’s to work in the fishing industries along the Treasure Coast. She attended school in Fort Pierce and married native Jack Storey in 1944. Along with her fifteen year marriage to Jack and years devoted to raising her four children Maggie worked professionally in the field of her passion, gardening. Working in all aspects of the agricultural industry from cultivation and harvesting to packing and distribution operations successfully for over forty years.

During her golden years in retirement after the passing of her husband “ED” of over twenty years, she shared her time between living in Florida and South Georgia to be near her family and enjoyed 12 years with her treasured companion Bill Barnes who preceded her in death in 2007. Granny as she was call by so many will always be remembered working in her garden with the sun on her shoulders, hat on her head and a smile on her face.
